Our IVF technique – success for older women
Genetic testing, including a technique called Fluorescent In Situ Hybridisation (FISH) and microarray CGH, can be used to screen embryos for chromosome errors.
These procedures involve making a hole in the zona pellucida (the outer shell) of the embryo and removing one or two cells from the embryo for genetic analysis. The embryo continues to grow in culture while the Genetics Laboratory tests the removed cell(s). Embryos that test as normal can then be transferred back to the patient.
